USERS BENEFITS IN USING BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING) (Fall 2011)

ABSTRACT

Building Information Modeling is a set of interacting policies, processes and technologies generating a methodology to manage the essential building design and project data in digital format throughout the building life-cycle.[1] The use of BIM models improve the planning and design and construction processes and lead the users to new terms such as 4D (adding time to model) and 5D (adding quantities and cost of materials) which is not introduced in traditional 2D-Based design of building industry. This paper present a brief description of new 3D based intelligent modeling in building design and construction and operation and benefits of its (Designers, MEP and Contractors).

Morphogenetic Design (Spring 2006)

Abstract:

Different shapes of cactus created with different amount and directions of pressure and tension on simple cactus cells.

According to this fact and EmTech research by M,Hensel in AA London, we studied the possibility of changing and mixing 2Dimensional membranes to various 3Dimensional shapes. In addition to do this different modification through modular membranes was done such as slices and splits. In addition materials and method of joining modules was studied.

According to the results a chance to present our project in Tehran, modern structure exhibition was given to our group. In fact this method as dependences parametric shape to the mainframe and support points we studied and modeled the frame and environment of our space in exhibition, in order to create a membrane booth, which created with 2Dimensional membrane and shaped by external tension and pressure.

Case study on National Library & archive of Iran (Spring2008)

Abstract:

National libraries in each country should be one of the strongest and durable building in that country, because they contain all the knowledge, arts, history and generally all the wealth of each nation, thus they should be protected in a safe building.

In this research we studied and criticized National Library & archive of Iran through specific elements such as:

-       Main function of an archive and library.

-       Life of books, workers and client through the building.

-       Aesthatical aspects of architectural designing.

-        Urban effects of building and location of the building.

-       Structure, materials and mechanical systems of the library.

-       Lighting of the building.

-       Relationship among different spaces, inside and outside of the building.

After 6 months studying the conditions of this library and studying other buildings around the world with this function and comparing Iranian national standards for these kinds of building with international standards, a complete conclusion among this critical study was acquired.

Photovoltaic systems in architecture (Fall 2008)

Abstract:

This paper is discussed about solar energy in architecture and the possibilities to convert this energy to electrical energy especially in buildings.

Sun can provide us an unlimited source of energy. Now a day thanks to developing the technology we can convert this energy to other kinds of energy.

According to the IEA 2010 over 36.0 % of world energy used by residential and services in 2008. Thus using renewable energy such as solar energy can increase the amount of fossil fuel and environmental impacts.

PV-panels can convert solar energy to electrical energy in buildings. Developing and details of these panels and in addition benefits in using PV-panels are discussed in this research.

Renovation Tousizade house (Spring 2009)

Abstract:

Isfahan is one of the most ancient and important cities of Iran. With more than 3000 years of history and culture. In different eras it had different political importance, in some of those periods Isfahan was the capital of Iran. Thus there are many important and ancient buildings and bridges in this city and nowadays they have to be kept.

In many historical cities of Iran, monuments and cultural dwellings are in the time worn and traditional urban contexts.

Generally in Iran by not paying enough attention to these old contexts and historical structures in them, makes lots of problems for the inhabitants and put these dwellings in the face of destruction danger.

With a comprehensive research in this field, and recognition the problems and acknowledge of the inhabitant’s needs, not only we can make these areas alive and keep them away from destruction but also we can create a suitable condition for tourists who want to visit these historical cities.
